Let’s Talk Bookish- Are Big TBRs a Form of Abibliophobia (i probably spelt that wrong)

Hellos! How are you all? Today, for the first time I’m doing a Lets Talk Bookish post. As with every other weekly post, I will try to keep going with these, but there’s definitely not going to be enough time when I go back to school, so this whole ‘posting every day’ thing? Its not staying. I’m sorry 😞

Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme hosted by Rukky @ Eternity Books and Dani @ Literary Lion. This weeks topic is “Are big TBRs a result of abibliophobia?”

Do you have abibliophobia?

For those of you who don’t know (aka me until 5 minutes ago) abibliophobia is the fear of not having enough reading material. I don’t think I do? I have about a million books to get to, and a library with a million more, so I think it would be rather irrational of me to be afraid of not having enough to read. Unless I turn into Chase from Lab Rats, I’m not getting to all of those books any time soon. (btw do you all remember lab rats?)

Do you add books to your TBR to keep it big, or is it a place where you keep books that seem interesting?

Hm? I think because I find interesting books. My TBR is already bigger than I will ever be able to read anyways, so to add to it would be borderline masochism. It just wouldn’t be good.
And then again, I’m not great at sticking to TBRs, I don’t see them as a list of books I have to read, I just like to keep in place all those books I think look good. Maybe thats why I never stick to monthly tbrs.

Do you have multiple TBRs?

I have 2. One physical tbr of all the books I own and haven’t read yet, and one of the the other books I want to read on Goodreads.

If you don’t have a TBR, how do you find your next read?

I am a mood reader, so there are just certain books that just sound good to me on certain days. I don’t really know, it just sort of happens?

That’s about it I guess. That was one hell of a short post, but I hope you liked it regardless.

  1. I don’t actually have my TBR listed out – it’s all either in my head or on my Goodreads. And I wouldn’t say I’m worried about running out of books because I get so many book recommendations every day from other blogs.

    1. Same, I have it on Goodreads, and my monthly ones I just have a vague idea of. I’m pretty bad at keeping to a TBR anyways, so I rarely list it out. Haha yeah, the amount of books I’ve put on my tbr through blog hopping is definitely more than I can count πŸ˜…

  2. Haha I also had to triple check if I wrote the title of my post correctly!
There are so many amazing books out there, I donΒ΄t think I will ever run out of reading material!

  3. I’m a big mood reader too, although these days I’m prioritizing some books over others thanks to book bloggers. πŸ™‚

I like to have a TBR so I can remember all the tempting books I see on a daily basis. I’d be overwhelmed otherwise searching the Internet randomly. I probably won’t be able to read all of them, but it’s nice having that list to browse through when I’m ready to pick up a new book!

    1. Same, I like to keep it somewhat organized so I do still know which books I want to read etc.
I’m also trying to get over my mood reading, and stick to a tbr, because it just makes books easier to keep track of, especially if there’s a book I have to review or a buddy read I’m doing. That’s probably also why I don’t get ARCs, I would just end up getting flustered and not review the book 🀧 Thanks Noelle πŸ’™

  4. I do have a tbr but on Goodreads and I only add books to my list if I own them. Ones I want that are released I add to my amazon wishlist (don’t necessarily buy from there but just to keep a note!) and books that aren’t released yet go on my countdown app!!!!

    1. Ooh that’s definitely more organized! I only have my Goodreads one, and my physical tbr, but having an Amazon wishlist is a really good idea 😊 And a countdown app seems so cool, it totally adds to the excitement πŸ˜„

      1. My memory is shocking at the best of times so I need all those things to remind me πŸ˜‚ I used to get add loads of books I was interested in to Goodresds but I had hundreds on there so cleared it all out!!!!

  5. Okay, what the hell πŸ˜‚.
There exists a phobia for not having enough books to read!??? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ€£.
Lol, I never knew it. But I definitely used to have it when I was very young and was not allowed to buy enough books. Now, not so anymore πŸ˜€.
    Nice post, Cherry!

      1. You’re welcome! πŸ’– Mood readers unite! 😁 True, I feel like posting everyday sometimes takes out the fun in blogging and feels more like a chore so I guess I’ll be taking it slow πŸ€”. Me neither πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜› You’re most welcome! πŸ’–πŸ’•

  7. I can’t imagine feeling like I don’t have enough books to read…. I always feel like I have too many books and not enough time though 🀣 And same, lately I’ve been a mood reader. I make a TBR but usually I change things around as the month goes on
