The Disappointments Book Tag

Hello! I’m still catching up on tags, and here’s another. I was tagged by Jenna @ Embers of Eleanor. Thank you so much! Everyone go check out her blog, she’s so sweet and so kind 💙

Rules:

  • Tag at least 3 people
  • Do each of the prompts unless you have never read that type of disappointing book
  • For some of the prompts, you can twist them into what fits your book. For example: Sequels where the characters change in a bad way could change to Good story, Bad characters or Good characters, the rest was mneh
  • Have fun!!

A disappointing debut

I’ve been thinking about this one for a while, and there’s really none 😕

An author with a novel you love, and a novel you dislike

Hehe I’ve talked about this book so much on this blog, but Shatter Me. I loved A Very Large Expanse of Sea, and I’m really excited for her next book, but Shatter Me I hated. I’m sorry.

A disappointing sequel

Sniff sniff. Revenger. I loved Martyr so much, and I was so excited about getting Revenger, and then I started reading it, and it just wasn’t the same. The characters had lost their charm, the entire book just felt so wrong 😔

Great idea, poor execution

School For Good And Evil. I really don’t like that book. The idea was sort of there, the 2 schools and whatnot, but the execution really missed the mark. I hated the characters, and I DNFed after a while. I’ve heard from my friends that there is a love triangle between that main girl and Agatha, with this blonde prince, and I just knew it. Its so boring!

Sequels where the characters change in a bad way

Hm. I guess Revenger too? The characters seemed so different, Shakespeare (John not William) seemed permanently tired and pissed off, Catherine was just overly dramatic and mean, and everyone else was just ugh.

Consider this an open tag! Everyone have a go!

  1. Hey, the love triangle stops. Like you don’t have to worry about it at all because Sophie gets so many prince’s and it doesn’t include Tedros. It’s not that bad, you know? Also, awesome post!

      1. Yeah. It’s ok. But you can read it one day. It’s not best book there is but it’s worth it, for a one time read at least.

  2. Thank you so much for doing my tag 🙂 I haven’t read any of the books you mentioned but all of them are on my TBR. I’ve heard all similar opinions on School For Good And Evil! ❤

  3. Ahh, I loved reading your answers to this! I’ve lost interest in Shatter Me to be honest haha. And oh nooo, not the School For Good and Evil! Jk, it’s totally understandable as to why you didn’t like it! The characters go through some *interesting* arcs but yeah, it can be tough to get through the cliche of it in the beginning.

    1. Thanks so much 😊 Haha yeah The School For Good and Evil had so many cliches at the beginning, and I always have other books I want to read, so there’s usually no point trying to read an entire series if I didn’t really like the first book. Thank you so much 💙
