How I Choose My Books Tag

Hello everyone! Welcome or welcome back, today I’m doing the How I Choose My Books Tag, for which I was tagged by Madeline @ The Bookish Mutant. Thank you very much 😊

Find a book on your bookshelves with a blue cover. What made you want to pick up this book?

I love anything fantasy and royalty, so demon hunters and a duchess sounded amazing, not to mention that it’s historical fiction, so I’m very excited to read it soon πŸ˜„

Think of a book you didn’t expect to enjoy, but did. Why did you read it in the first place?

I really didn’t expect the author to be able to pull of the story, but it was actually really good! I read it because I was in the mood for a mystery thriller book, and the prologue sounded so good.

Stand in front of your bookshelf with your eyes closed and pick a book at random. How did you discover this book?

I actually got this book gifted to me, and even though its the last in the series, you really don’t have to have read the other books to understand this one, as with most mysteries.

Pick a book that someone personally recommended to you. What did you think of it?

I dont really know anyone who reads, so I never get book recs, and the only book anyone has ever told me to read was Shatter Me. We all know how I feel about this book, not gonna rant right now, but yeah, it didn’t go well.

Pick a book that you discovered through booktube/bookstagram/book blogs. Did it live up to the hype?

I ended up reading the Shadowhunters books because I kept seeing it everywhere, and it really did live up to the hype. I definitely liked The Infernal Devices a lot more than The Mortal Instruments, but I’m really glad I listened to everyone and read them because it was amazing πŸ˜„

Find a book on your shelves with a one-word title. What drew you to this book?

I haven’t read this book yet because I want to read Nomad first, but I was drawn to this book honestly because of the cover. It looked really nice, it looks even better in real life, and then I read the blurb and it sounded even better, so I bought it.

What book did you discover through a film/TV adaptation?

Dead Poets Society! I haven’t read it yet because I can’t get a copy anywhere, but I found out about the book through watching the movie.

Think of your all-time favorite books. When did you read these, and why did you pick them up in the first place?

I have a lot of favorites, so here’s a little list:

We Hunt The Flame (Hafsah Faizal)

I read this book in January or February of this year I think πŸ€” I picked it up because it was set in Arabia and I had already heard of the author. I guess it was another book I picked up because of the hype and it really lived up to it πŸ˜… I’m reading We Free The Stars, and the emotional overload? Insane. I’ve had many *many* heart attacks, may or may not have cried, and I’ve just spent the entire time reading grinning at my book πŸ˜… Its a lot to handle, and I stand corrected, if done well the one bed trope is actually kind of good.

Lost Boy (Christina Henry)

I actually don’t remember when I read this, it had to have been last year I think, and I had seen the synopsis somewhere and got really excited so I read it and loved it so much

Marty (Rory Clements)

I got this book last year of the year before, and it took me so long to actually read it πŸ˜… I first picked it up because I was at the bookshop and I saw that it was historical fiction, and it was about Elizabethen England, so I bought it and eventually read it, this February I think it was.

The Night Stalker (Chris Carter)

This book is my favourite thriller, and it was *chefs kiss* The development! The characters! The build up! All done so well. I picked it up because I was actually looking for a book by the same name on the actual night stalker Richard Ramirez, and stumbled on this book, so I read it and it was brilliant.

I tag anyone who wants to try this! Thanks for reading ladies and gents πŸ˜„
